Initially, two-chamber refrigeration units were equipped with only one powerful compressor. Today you can purchase models equipped with two low-power compressors.
Many people prefer the second option, and this is easily explained. Each of the working compartments, freezing and refrigerating, has its own compressor, which makes it possible to precisely regulate the temperature.
Having detected a deviation from the specified mode, thermostat starts the compressor and corrects the situation. In this case, the temperature of the second chamber remains unchanged. Thus, it is possible to achieve the most efficient operation of the equipment and its greater efficiency.
Paradoxically, a unit with two low- or medium-power compressors consumes less energy than its counterpart with one.
Separating the temperature control of each chamber has other significant advantages. For example, if necessary, one of the compartments can be completely disabled, while the second will be fully operational.

A couple of years ago, my husband and I bought a Gorenje two-chamber camera. We are 1000% satisfied with them. The freezer is small, but we try not to store meat there; we buy fresh meat from the market. It is quite economical to use and does not consume a lot of electricity. If we buy a new one, we will also take Gorenje.
A good refrigerator at a reasonable price is, of course, indesit. I took the two-chamber one, it’s just a godsend. No Frost in both compartments, cools perfectly and is not noisy. He is already about 8 years old and still doing well. This is quality!
Double chamber refrigerators are good. But here it’s better to definitely take it with frost. I judge from my own experience. There is no need to constantly defrost and there is not much difference in how you stack the food.

Their popularity is quite high, so the question “who takes it” is irrelevant here. They are taken by those whose budget does not allow them to purchase know frost :)
But in general, most likely, Slava was talking about Side-by-Side, and not about a regular two-compartment refrigerator with a bottom/top freezer.
