Model range and manufacturers
Initially, Rodnichok was developed for industrial purposes. But given that powerful pumps of this type require a large amount of electricity, the developers decided to focus on the private consumer.
As a result, they created a compact model of a vibrating submersible type, which is still successfully used in everyday life.
Today, the official manufacturer of the classic Rodnichok pump is UZBI — Ural Household Products Plant, which produces two modifications of the pump:
- "Spring" BV-0.12-63-U — option with upper water intake;
- «Rodnichok BV-0.12-63-U — option with lower water intake.
Both models can be equipped with a 10m, 16m, 20m or 25m power cord.
The Moscow plant also produces Rodnichok pumps. ZAO Zubr-OVK, producing a model called “Rodnichok ZNVP-300”, which is not much different from the classic electric pumps produced by UZBI.
Considering that “Rodnichok” is not as well-known and popularly loved pump as the same "Baby", it is extremely rare to find its fakes.
The affordable price of the electric pump is explained by the simplicity of its design and the use of only Russian parts for its production.
Analysis of technical characteristics
Vibrating pumping devices “Rodnichok” are designed for pumping clean and slightly contaminated water. The permissible size of solid inclusions in the pumped liquid should not exceed 2 mm.
No. 1 - unit performance
The pump is excellent for water supply of 2-story houses, because... the maximum pressure produced by the equipment is 55 - 60 m. “Rodnichok” operates from a conventional household power supply with a voltage of 220 V.
It is allowed to use a pump to pump soapy water, or chlorinated water, from artificial reservoirs.
The unit can pump water from flooded private river boats and basements. Permitted for use in draining containers.
Pumping of all types of liquids other than water is prohibited., especially aggressive, explosive, toxic, oil-contaminated and similar varieties. If you need a pump to pump out contaminated liquid, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following material.
The productivity of the Rodnichok pump is approximately 432 l/hour, which allows uninterrupted supply of water to several water consuming points at once.
The performance of the electric pump directly depends on the height of the water supply. The maximum immersion depth specified by the manufacturer is 5 m, however, thanks to the durable housing, the pump can be successfully used at a depth of 10 m or even more.
“Rodnichok” is intended for use at ambient temperatures from +3 °C to + 40 °C. The weight of the unit is only 4 kg, making it mobile and easy to install.
The overall dimensions of the pump do not exceed 250 x 110 x 300 mm, which makes it possible to operate it in narrow wells and wells with a diameter of more than 12 cm.
Before purchasing a Rodnichok vibration pump, you need to ask whether the kit includes a nylon cable for lowering the unit into a well or borehole.
If such a cable is not included in the kit, it must be purchased separately.Lowering the electric pump using the power cord is strictly prohibited!
No. 2 - device and principle of operation
The design of “Rodnichka” is simple, no different from other submersible vibration electric pumps. The main working elements thanks to which water is pumped are a vibrator and an electromagnet.
The vibrator is an anchor with an elastic spring shock absorber. The anchor is fixed to the shaft, and its movement is limited by a special bushing.
At a certain distance from the armature and the rubber shock absorber there is a diaphragm that guides the rod, supporting it during pump operation. The diaphragm is made of rubber and hermetically seals the electrical part of the pump.
An electromagnet consists of a core with a winding in the shape of the letter “P”. The latter is made up of two coils.
Removes excess heat from the coils and fixes these parts in the required position relative to each other and the pump body.
When the Rodnichok pump is connected to the power supply, the core begins to produce reciprocating movements. It performs them at a speed of approximately 100 vibrations per second, while attracting an anchor located on the shaft.
The rubber shock absorber pushes away the anchor, transmitting vibration to the piston, which is located on the rod with the anchor.
During retraction, a hydraulic chamber is formed, the volume of which is limited on one side by the piston, on the other by a valve on the body.
Getting inside the pump through the suction hole (water intake), the water ends up in the hydraulic chamber and, when the piston moves, it is forcefully pushed out through the pressure pipe.
To prevent water getting inside the pump from flowing back out of it, there is a valve on the body that prevents back leakage. The pump housing is cooled by the pumped water.
No. 3 - water intake option
Rodnichok pumps are available in two variations: with upper and lower water intake. In the first case, the suction pipe is located at the top of the housing, in the second - at the bottom. Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages of a pumping device with a top intake:
- continuous provision of cooling of the pump casing, which means a longer period of operation;
- There is no suction of bottom sediments, which means that the optimal quality of the supplied water is ensured;
- the pump does not suck in sludge and therefore requires less frequent cleaning.
The disadvantages of modifications with an upper intake include the inability to pump out water completely, but only to the point where the inlet pipe is located. This is inconvenient if the unit is used for pumping water from flooded buildings, swimming pools, and boats.
The Rodnichok electric pump with a lower water intake, on the contrary, is capable of pumping out liquid to a minimum level.
Some experts argue that units with a lower intake are able to create greater pressure due to the fact that the water lingers a little longer inside the pump, where it is given greater acceleration.
The negative side of a pump with a lower intake can be considered the likelihood of capturing bottom sediments, which means that such a pump will quickly become clogged, which will lead to its failure.
When choosing an electric pump “Rodnichok”, you need to decide in advance under what conditions it will work. If a pump is purchased to supply water from water intake structures, a well or a well, then preference should be given to equipment with an upper intake.
If an electric pump is needed to pump out flood waters from flooded premises, drain tanks, and eliminate the consequences of utility accidents, then a model with a lower intake is the best choice.
If you find it difficult to make a choice, we recommend reading our article with advice on choosing pumps for wells.
Connection and commissioning
The Rodnichok pump is installed in a well or borehole with a minimum diameter of 12 cm. The immersion depth is 5 m, but if necessary it can reach 20 m.
Please note that the deeper the pump is located, the lower its performance and pressure..
Stage #1 - connecting the equipment
The sequence for connecting the Rodnichok pump is as follows:
- Before installation, inspect the equipment for mechanical damage, and also inspect the power cord and cable.
- A rubber ring is tightly placed on the body of the electric pump, which protects the unit from hitting the walls during operation.
- Using a cable inserted into special holes on the body, the pump is lowered into the water so that it is suspended at a distance of at least 30 cm from the bottom.
- The hose must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, namely, the water supply height (the distance from the pump to the final water consumer) should not exceed 60 m.
- The hose is securely fastened with clamps and fittings, so that there are no kinks. The hose must be located away from heating devices and sharp objects. In most cases, a hose with a diameter of 15 mm or ½ inch is suitable for pumps of this brand.
- The Rodnichok pump is started when the plug located on the power cord is plugged into a 220V power outlet.
After diving and turning on the power supply, the Rodnichok pump starts working immediately, so it is necessary to check the water level before turning it on. Dry operation of the submersible electric pump is not allowed!
When using the Rodnichok pump for pumping pools, tanks and premises, as well as when working in low-yield wells and wells, it is necessary to monitor the water level almost continuously in order to turn off the water pump in a timely manner.
Disconnection is carried out by disconnecting the plug from the socket. For step-by-step instructions on installing a pump in a well, read Further.
Step #2 - Using the Pump Correctly
The vibration electric pump “Rodnichok” is very easy to use; it is enough to follow the basic rules, and the unit will last for decades.
When using “Springhead” for a water supply or water pumping system, first of all make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage of the product 220V plus/minus 5V.
The power supply cable must be positioned in such a way as to completely eliminate the possibility of damage and short circuit. Plug connectors must be located in dry places, well protected from moisture.
After finishing work, for example, when the hydraulic accumulator tank is completely filled, disconnect the pump from the power supply. The pump is turned on only after it is completely immersed in water and installed in a vertical position.
If during operation you hear extraneous sounds (impacts, friction) or an atypical sound of a running motor, you must immediately disconnect the Rodnichok from the network.
And also lift it to the surface to identify and eliminate the causes of extraneous sounds.
When using the Rodnichok vibration pump to pump out flooded rooms or swimming pools, do not leave it in the open air after finishing work.
The pump should be stored in a dry place where it will not be exposed to negative temperatures, high humidity and other climatic factors.
Safety precautions when connecting and operating the Rodnichok pump are no different from the safety rules when working with other household submersible pumps.
Let's remember the basic rules:
- heating equipment — it is prohibited to use the electric pump in close proximity to heating boilers, generators, flammable liquids and gas cylinders.
- Directed exposure to sunlight — the pump must not be exposed to directly directed solar radiation or prolonged exposure to aggressive environments.
- Increased pressure — do not use the pump to create a pressure greater than indicated in the instructions, for example by pinching the hose or using a hose of a smaller diameter.
- Work without interruptions — do not allow the pump to operate continuously for more than 12 hours.
Most often, malfunctions of the Rodnichok pump are associated with its clogging during pumping of contaminated liquid or due to a faulty power cord.
In the first case, it is necessary to disassemble the unit and clean it, and in the second, replace or repair the electrical cable.
Stage #3 - equipment maintenance
Rodnichok submersible pumping units are very easy to operate and do not require expensive and time-consuming maintenance.
The equipment does not require regular lubrication. The use of lubricants is prohibited!
Maintenance of the pump comes down to periodic lifting to the surface, visual inspection of the casing and cleaning of its silt and sediment.
After using the electric pump to pump out slightly contaminated, chlorinated or sea water, it is necessary to clean the pump by pumping clean water for 1-1.5 hours.
Advantages and disadvantages of pumps
A lot is said and written about the advantages and disadvantages of Rodnichok submersible vibration pumps.
Reviews from its owners are completely opposite: some note high quality and ease of use, others consider this equipment outdated, and its use inconvenient and troublesome. Let us note only some of the advantages and disadvantages of these pumps.
Advantages:
- low price;
- possibility of pumping slightly contaminated water;
- simple design, durable body;
- the ability to select the required length of the electrical cable;
- the ability to select equipment with upper or lower water intake;
- economical energy consumption;
- ease of connection and operation;
- high productivity and pressure.
“Springhead” functions perfectly at depth and can withstand impressive hydrodynamic pressure. For normal operation, there should be no more than 5 m between the top point of the body and the water surface.
Flaws:
- requires control during pumping of pools and flooded rooms;
- low degree of protection against power surges;
- inability to use at temperatures below +5 and above +40 °C;
- cannot be used in wells and boreholes with unstable walls, because Due to vibration, they are destroyed.
Of course, today you can find on sale more modern and high-performance pumps equipped with electronic protection systems, but Rodnichok is an almost ideal combination of price and quality, time-tested.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with rating of submersible pumps, which is presented in our other material.

I bought this pump to water my garden plot from a container of water. It's been working for 3 years now and I've never even had to take it apart. The design is really very simple and reliable, it works very quietly. The productivity is enough, I install a splitter for 4 hoses, the pressure is even too strong for all of them. A friend uses one of these in a shallow well, and it works fine.
I've been using this pump for several years now. Due to improper use, one of these units burned out. Yes, indeed, these pumps are very sensitive to voltage changes. I installed a voltage stabilizer and now everything works great. And two more important points about operation. The first thing is to monitor the water level. If you miss, then literally after 3 minutes of operating the pump without water, it overheats and burns out. Secondly, you cannot completely shut off the water supply hose. Otherwise, an excellent and budget pump that does its job well.
Hello! The site is far from home! Watering the garden! Is it possible to start and operate from a 1 kW portable gasoline power station? The power of the Rodnichok vibration pump is 230 Watt.
The power of a portable gasoline power station of 1 kW should be quite enough to ensure the normal operation of the Rodnichok pump, whose power is 230 Watts. Here another question arises: is the power of the Rodnichok vibration pump itself sufficient to ensure normal water supply?
You write that you are planning to water the garden, but it is located far from home. Here I would like a little specifics: how far is it, are there any elevation changes? If you have already calculated all this and the only question is whether the portable power station will handle it, then you don’t have to worry about it.
