Bosch GL-30 range

There are several models in the line of Bosch vacuum cleaners labeled GL-30. In this case, the Bosch BGL32000 GL-30 2000W device is considered basic, only with a disposable dust bag.

And more advanced - Bosch BSGL32383 GL-30 Bag&Bagless with the function DualFiltration, which means that the device has both a bag and a garbage container inside. They are now offered by the German concern for sale in Russia.

Models GL-30
GL-30 means power consumption up to 3000W.Marking 2000W or similar indicating watts, these are devices with a dust collector in the form of a fabric bag, and Bag&Bagless are their analogues, additionally equipped with a plastic container for collecting dust

Also in the Bosch line with the GL-30 logo there is models BGL32003, BSGL 32180, etc. They differ from those listed above in the length of the power cord, the presence/absence of a HEPA filter and the color of the case. However, the basic set of functions and the general internal structure are identical in all cases.

Judging by the decoding of the alphabetic abbreviation in the name of the vacuum cleaners in question, Bosch classifies them as professional and powerful equipment. But this does not mean that this technique can be used for cleaning in the office, and even more so in production.

In terms of characteristics, configuration and functionality, it is more intended for domestic conditions, although it has fairly high power consumption.

Specifications and Features

Vacuum cleaners of the Bosch GL-30 series, in terms of price and functions, belong to the middle segment of home cleaning equipment. Their cost ranges from four to six thousand rubles. But with a promotion, such a unit can be purchased for less money.

Appearance and dimensions

All models of Bosch GL-30 vacuum cleaners are compact and light weight. The dimensions of the device are 260x287x400 mm, and it weighs only 4.3 kg without a hose and nozzles. When fully assembled, ready for use, its weight does not exceed 6 kg.

Appearance of the vacuum cleaner
On the top of the body above the hose connection, the GL-30 vacuum cleaner has an ergonomic handle, with which even a fragile housewife can easily lift and carry this device to any room in the house

The vacuum cleaner can be stored/parked in both horizontal and vertical positions.In the second case, it takes up very little space on the floor or shelf - 26x28 cm.

Such a device can easily be placed behind the sofa, in the pantry, and in the closet. The only possible problem is the telescopic pipe with hose. But even when assembled it does not take up much space.

The Bosch GL-30 series vacuum cleaner with a dust collector has four wheels on the bottom, making it easy to move it across the floor. At the same time, Bag&Bagless models have only three rollers, but this is more than enough for trouble-free movement around the house.

However, owners of this equipment note a slight drawback of these wheels. They are frankly small - if there is a long-pile carpet on the floor, then problems arise with moving the device; sometimes it is easier to move it.

The body of the vacuum cleaner is made of thin but durable plastic. The dust suction pipe is made of metal. In appearance, these parts look quite fragile, but the owners do not write anything about their breakdowns in the reviews. Usually the engine or something else breaks down first.

The noise level, depending on the model, at maximum power ranges from 63–80 dB. Compared to competitors, this is frankly not loud. However, many users note that the sound when the device operates is not booming, but thin - similar to a squeak and extremely annoying.

Dust collection system

The main point in choosing a Bosch GL-30 series vacuum cleaner is the dust filtration system and the method of collecting it. In the basic model, this function lies in a disposable dust bag with a capacity of 4 liters and an exhaust microfilter. According to the instructions, reusable bags are not used in GL-30.

Bag and container
Equipment marked Bag&Bagless, in addition to a bag dust collector, also has a container for collecting sucked debris. At the discretion of the owner, you can use any of the two options

Also in Bag&Bagless, the standard microfilter on the air outlet is replaced with a HEPA filter. The air coming out of the vacuum cleaner is cleaner. However, HEPA itself is disposable and cannot be washed.

Gradually, its pores fill with dust and microorganisms, which, when turned on, can be blown into the room. If the filter is not regularly changed during constant use, it will become a source of problems for allergy sufferers.

Replacement bags are sold in packs of five and come with a replaceable microfilter. The manufacturer recommends changing the filter device every 5 changes of the dust bag.

In addition, the device has a motor filter located at the inlet and also participates in dust collection. It can be washed when it gets dirty. This accessory has to be changed in extremely rare cases. Usually, the one that originally came with the vacuum cleaner when sold is used for several years.

After cleaning the inside of the device, the air is blown out through an opening at the top of the case, with the flow directed upward. That is, when moving on an uncleaned surface, the dust does not blow in different directions.

Equipment and functionality of devices

The basic Bosch GL-30 kit includes three types of brush attachments:

  • slotted for narrow places;
  • nozzle for upholstered furniture;
  • universal floor brush.

The second and third in some models are replaced by one universal nozzle with height-adjustable bristles. If you need to vacuum a hard floor covering, they are retracted, and for cleaning carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture, they are pulled out.

Vacuum cleaner power cord
The cable length, depending on the GL-30 model, varies between 6–10 meters. At the same time, it automatically retracts if it is completely pulled out of the body and simply released back

In addition to the above accessories, it is recommended to immediately purchase a turbo brush with rotating bristles from the store. It is many times more effective at collecting pet hair than a regular brush.

Also, the turbo brush easily collects all the debris stuck to the floor. A regular brush often leaves them in place.

In addition to all of the above, it is possible to purchase a separate attachment for sucking in construction dust from the drill. It is only recommended to install it exclusively on the more powerful Bag&Bagless model.

Let's look at the main characteristics using the example of the Bosch BGL32003 model:

  • Cleaning option: dry only;
  • power consumption/suction - 2000 W/300 W;
  • dust collector - 4 l bag;
  • telescope tube - yes, there is;
  • nozzles - 3 pcs;
  • cord/device weight - 8 m/4.3 kg.

In more detail, all the features and advantages of the Bosch GL-30 line can be found using the example of the Bosch GL-30 BGL32003 model from the following video:

To monitor the fullness level of the dust collector, there is a special mechanical indicator on the vacuum cleaner body. When the bag is filled to capacity with dust, the air draft decreases - this triggers the indicator.

It is highly not recommended to turn on the device for operation in such a situation without changing the dust collector; the motor begins to operate at high speeds, gets hot and may fail.

Device operation control

All operation of the Bosch GL-30 line of vacuum cleaners is controlled using one rotary switch in the center of the body. There is no regulator on the suction pipe here.

On the one hand, this is not entirely convenient, but on the other hand, the existing switch is reliable and breaks very rarely. But the option located on the tube often fails after a couple of months from the start of operation.

Rotary power switch
The rotary switch allows you to easily control the power of the motor and the quality of dust suction. Usually the regulator is set to medium mode, which is more than enough in the vast majority of cases

The power adjustment of the Bosch GL-30 2000W is made in the range from 300 to 2000 W. For more powerful Bag&Bagless models, the upper threshold reaches 2300 W.

Pros and cons of the line

Among the main advantages of the considered line of devices it is worth highlighting:

  • high quality dry cleaning;
  • automatic cable rewinding;
  • reasonable cost;
  • compactness and low weight of the device with sufficiently high power;
  • the presence of smooth adjustment of the operating mode;
  • large dust collector.

Preparing the Bosch GL-30 for use takes a minimum of time and effort. It is enough to screw the hose if it is unscrewed and turn on the device. All maintenance is a regular change of the bag.

Dust bag
A disposable four-liter dust container for weekly cleaning usually lasts for two to three months, and the price of a new one is low. About 200–250 rubles for one disposable

The disadvantages of the device in question include:

  • noise is a common problem with all vacuum cleaners;
  • failure to clean high-pile carpets;
  • the need to constantly change the dust collector;
  • lack of possibility of wet cleaning;
  • high power consumption.

Another drawback applies only to Bag&Bagless vacuum cleaners with a dust container. If the dust container is almost completely filled, then some of the suspended dust particles begin to be blown out of it into the housing.

This leads to clogging of the motor, which then has to be cleaned so that it does not break due to overheating.

This manufacturer also has a whole series of models where the container plays the role of a dust collector. The rating of the best representatives of this line is presented in this article.

Comparison with competitive models

The Bosch GL-30 has many competitors with similar features, price and functionality. To make it easier for you to make a choice, let's look at those that are most similar to the base model Bosch BGL32003 GL-30 2000W.

Competitor #1 - Samsung SC5241

This model has similar power consumption. However, in terms of price, the Samsung SC5241 is slightly superior to the Bosch BGL32003. Among the advantages of the Samsung vacuum cleaner, it is worth noting its smaller dimensions and the presence of a HEPA filter.

However, it weighs almost a kilogram more, which is important for many housewives, and is somewhat louder - more than 80 dB. The dust bag on the Samsung device is almost half the size, so you will have to change the dust bag much more often.

True, the price of replacement dust collectors is half that of analogues for the Bosch BGL32000. Another disadvantage is the short power cord - only 6 meters, but for residents of small apartments this is quite enough.

A detailed review of the Samsung SC5241 vacuum cleaner can be found in this material.

Competitor #2 - Philips FC8293 PowerGo

This is almost a complete analogue of the Bosch GL-30 in terms of technical characteristics. But it has a shorter power cord - 6 versus 8 meters, and it is slightly smaller in size, but weighs the same.

Philips' power consumption is 10% lower, but this does not affect the suction power, which is 300 W.

The only negative is the three-liter dust collector, although in most cases this volume is quite enough.The price of Philips FC8293 percent is 10–15 percent cheaper than similar Bosch models.

Competitor #3 - Hoover TTE 2407 019 TELIOS PLUS

The Hoover vacuum cleaner differs from the Bosch GL-30 in its higher power consumption - 2400 versus 2000 W. But its suction power is almost a third stronger - it copes with fleecy carpet much better.

Otherwise, these two devices are very similar: low noise level, range and weight are all identical. Only in terms of its dimensions, the device from Hoover is slightly larger.

True, you will have to pay about 15% more money for additional power.

Conclusions and best offers on the market

Bosch GL-30 BGL32003 is simply the perfect home vacuum cleaner. Compared to competitors with similar power and price, it is quieter, takes up less space, weighs less and has a long cord.

According to reviews from users who bought this equipment, the plastic housing looks flimsy, but it is very durable. The advantages of this model are the large 4-liter dust collector, which outweighs all its imaginary disadvantages.

    When choosing a vacuum cleaner for the dacha, the choice immediately fell on a Bosch vacuum cleaner. Because it is oversized, maneuverable and costs quite a lot of money. I didn’t want an expensive cordless vacuum cleaner at the dacha. At home it is possible to charge it, but at the dacha there is absolutely no time for this, so a wired one is what you need. One of the main criteria for choosing a Bosch vacuum cleaner was its power, since it sucks dust from carpets very well.Sometimes you even have to adjust the suction strength because the nozzle sticks to the carpet.

    For some reason, Bosch is considered the leader in vacuum cleaners, although their models have many disadvantages. I was considering buying this model: it’s laconic, easy to use, but I was confused by the constant purchase of collection bags. This is not very profitable, because you are choosing a vacuum cleaner for more than one year and not for beauty. I had to choose another company, albeit more expensive, but with a rigid container for collecting dust and a wet cleaning function. And long pile is probably too much for all vacuum cleaners to handle.

    They gave us a Bosch GL 30 4 years ago. What can I say, the vacuum cleaner is normal, but it blows out such hot air that it’s kind of like a fan heater. After six months, the main brush broke, fortunately it came from an old Samsung. After a couple of years, the eye of the lid broke, although not critically, but still. vacuums well. but after we switched to universal disposable bags, problems began due to the fact that the bag fastening plate had to be properly secured. Otherwise, the garbage will also clog the filter in front of the engine. Well, I even went so far as to remove and clean the engine impeller. In short, you need to use their real filter so that there are no problems. But to be honest, I didn’t expect Bosch to have such flimsy quality. Although now everything probably comes from China that's why it's like that.
